Our Pastor

Pastor Keith Burk was installed as our pastor on December 9, 2007.  If you have a need for pastoral services, you may reach him during the week at 402-805-4148.  Scheduled office hours will be Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 10:00 - 12:00, starting in January.  These hours may vary so it is best to call ahead to be sure he is there.  The church number is 402-421-2222.

"We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work."  I Thessalonians 5:12-13

Opportunities to Help Others in 2010

March: Collect food and donations for the Food Pantry project to be distributed to local families through Shepherd of the Hills in Hickman.

April and May: Clothing collection for Orphan Grain Train.

June and July: Collect personal need items for nursing home residents.  Mission Circle members will plan to do visitations to our own shut-ins.

August and September: Collect back-to-school items for stuffing children's backpacks.

October: Support for our Haiti child.

November and December: Collect warm outerwear to be donated to the People's City Mission.  Hats, gloves, boots, scarves, and coats are encouraged.

The Mission Circle will also be sponsoring Easter lily sales.  A sign-up sheet will be posted during Lent so lilies may be purchased in time for Easter.  By rounding up the price you are asked to contribute towards each lily, we are able to add a small amount to the missions fund.  Your help will certainly be appreciated.

Check out the progress on the building of the sanctuary wall.  Congregation volunteers have been working hard in many areas to make this project happen -- getting supplies, actual construction, cleaning up, and even feeding all the workers.

Mission Sunday

Mission Sunday was observed on October 4 with a full schedule of events.   We were blessed to have the Kingdom Kind choir, from Messiah LC-MS in Lincoln, who provided special music during the Worship Service and for the program which followed.  Dale Oberle spoke about his experiences with mission work in Haiti.   We also enjoyed special music provided by Pastor Burk, Rhonda and sons.  What a joy to have such a talented family in our midst!

The program and noon meal were followed by some fun and games.  All proceeds of the day's events will be used to fund mission projects.  Pastor Burk did more than his share to make this day a slam dunk!
