Mission Circle
Mission Circle President's Notes
During the May meeting, LWML - Mission Sunday was discussed. The following committees were set up: 1. Service 2. Talent Show 3. Public Relations and 4. Food and Decorations. A sign-up sheet will be posted and everyone is encouraged to post your name to one or more of these committees. This is a congregational event and to make it a successful one we will need everyone's help. The committees will need to meet for ideas as soon as possible and then we will have a general meeting the end of June to work on an over-all plan. It was decided that instead of the auction and Gathering of the Harvest, we will simply put out a basket to collect donations for "Sponsor the Haiti Children."
An afternoon gathering was discussed as a possible fun activity to work on the book marker ribbons for the new hymn books. We thought this could be a good idea for some fellowship and also to work on a project. This will be worked on more at the June Meeting.
Don't forget items for the Elderly and also the Solders. Both are groups that can use our help.

Minutes of Mission Circle meeting, October 17, 2009
The October 17 meeting was called to order by President Jeanne. Jeanne read the October 17th message from the Portals of Prayer. Five members answered roll call: Jeanne, Janet, Lavelle, Joyce and Ruth. Minutes were approved as read. Treasurer's report stated a balance of $391.16; total expenses of $79.55, leaving a total on hand of $261.41.
Committee reports: Altar Guild: Joyce and Ruth will be putting the new red paraments on the altar for Reformation Sunday, October 25th. A big thank you to Lavelle for making the banner for LWML Sunday. It is awesome. Lavelle will be bringing the Altar Flowers for Reformation Sunday, if she no longer has fresh flowers blooming, the Mission Circle will buy flowers for the altar. Social Concerns: Cathy will be helping with sending out greeting cards.
Unfinished Business: Meal of the Month: we will continue until the end of the year. October will be a chicken main dish, December we plan to do a food basket.
LWML/Mission Sunday: Too much was planned for one day. We may try having two different events. We did make about $250 for the two Haiti children. Possible fund raiser for next year - a dinner such as taco/taco salad event. Project for next year, possibly supporting a seminary student.
New business: District Convention 2010, Joyce will make a sample corsage for committee evaluation in January. Fran has asked Mission Circle to help serve at the baptism dinner November 8th. Lavelle will be making the banner and napkin. Ruth had suggested changes for the local chapter by-laws and standing rules. Members were given a copy to review for approval at next meeting, then will be sent for District approval.
Next meeting November 21, 2009
Respectfully submitted, Ruth Wright, Secretary
