Salvation

Salvation is necessary for all people because we are conceived and born sinful (Psalm 51:5 & Romans chapter 3) and enemies of God (Romans 5:10) and there is no way we can save ourselves.  In fact, all our "righteous deeds" are like a dirty rag and a putrid odor to God (Isaiah 64:6)

Salvation is gift given to us by God through the Person and work of Jesus Christ.  This gift is applied to us through the sacrament of Holy [water] Baptism (Romans chapter 6) in which, our sins are washed away and we receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. (Titus 3:5)  In addition to this, through water baptism, we are adopted into God's family and are made heirs of eternal life with our heavenly Father though Jesus Christ

This gift is free and there is NOTHING we do to earn this gift. (Ephesians 2:8-9).  Through the gift of faith, we then have the right and privilege to call God our Father and pray to Him.

The faith we've received is continuously nourished in us by God's Word and the sacrament of Holy Communion.  Holy Communion is an eternal life-sustaining meal shared by God's children and is also received worthily by the Holy Spirit's gift of faith.
